Looney Tunes Physics Time At Mt. Rushmore

"Hey!" Quinn says, "you need to 'yellow' out, buddy!" He'll try to swing the lasso around over his head and attempt to smash The Guy Who Won't Shut Up with Sinestro. He figures Sinestro will miss any attempt to hit him since he'll be whirling around at mach speeds, but just in case he's got his shield ready too.

Before Quinn's crack-the-whip can take effect, Vina holds Sinestro's arm down to try to prevent him from mace-smashing Quinn. This causes Sinestro to turn, seize Vina's wrist, and glare deeply into her eyes, which are unafraid and kind of unearthly in an elfin sort of way. He stares.

Then, of course, Vina AND Sinestro are swung toward Amazo!

JimBob pushes forward with his infiltrating hand to rip the ring off Amazo's finger, using the Green Lantern Power to force his hand open, if necessary. Then he wraps the Lantern-strengthened lasso around its wielder to buy himself a moment.

Amazo raises his silver shield, an exact copy of Quinn's, and blocks the magic Lantern-infused lasso. Hit by the combined power of Wonder Woman (who, let's remember, can lift cartoonishly huge tanks) and Green Lantern (who, likewise, can move several jumbo jets at once) the shield should smash like an eggshell.

But in fact, it is the green-glowing golden lasso which glances from the shield as easily as a drop of rain, albeit with a clashing sound!

"My maker provided me with your powers," says Amazo, "but I sense this shield lacks something which yours possesses. Could it be that your shield is continually reinforced by the favor of the Gods? I must take it from you and see if it outperforms my own. And since you bear that shield, it is pointless to attack you with Superman's strength or Green Lantern's force beams. But there are other options in my decision tree -- the speed of the Flash --"

And suddenly Amazo is just THERE in Quinn's face, gripping Quinn's shield with the palm of his hand --

"-- and the thunderbolts of Zeus, against which even his own vaunted Aegis shield should be vulnerable!"

"SHAZAM!"

A blast of lightning explodes from the clear sky. Quinn's next move is, in a word, vital.

Meanwhile, nearby, JimBob's hand is not QUITE torn from his body as Amazo moves at superspeed. It is, however, stretched really really far, which doesn't cause pain, exactly, but the world's worst case of pins-and-needles, also known as the funny-bone sensation. Really. The worst ever.

Then, the swinging lasso crosses JimBob's arm, pulled to the diameter of a toothpick. But it does not harm him, because the weight on the end, being Vina and Sinestro, has come loose, and hovers at the apex of their former flight path!

Vina releases the end of the lasso, which she has untied at super-speed. She and Sinestro are still holding each other's wrists, and his big honking mace has sort of faded into a golden glow, indicating that his concentration has been interrupted.

"Hang on, Vina! I've got you!" calls Roy, breaking the spell by encircling the two in a green force bubble, so they won't fall. "Sinestro, you better drop your yellow force field, or you're going to fall right through my force-beam. Because as you know, due to a necessary impurity in its makeup, my ring is powerless against the color yellow."

  1. Quinn isn't sure how fast his reflexes are, or how good his aim is. He's not sure who, or what, powers his gear. All he can do is act and pray.

He throws his spear into the oncoming lightning bolt hoping that it will absorb or disperse its power, and attempts to keep a hold of the shield and "let" it move in the direction Amazo wants it to go, a classic judo technique -- hopefully out of the path of destruction, if his spear has no effect.

  2. "We're good, Roy. I've got wings. Help the others..."
Can Sinestro fly? What sort of shape is he in?

  3. JimBob will do the best he can to ravel himself back up to his hand. Is he still Lantern-y?
